Hannah hates snowbirds! (But We Don't)

“I hate snowbirds. I hate Ohio snowbirds. I hate Wisconsin snowbirds. I hate New York snowbirds. I hate snowbirds, period,” said Hard Luck Hannah at the top of her voice as we stood in line to get into the Pukin' Pelican. Several shrivels turned and glared but since Hannah is 6'1” and weighs almost 200 lbs, no one challenged her.

“I hate mangers who can't staff properly for these overlapping days of snowbirds. Januaries snowbirds are still here and February's are here early,” I said to a bus boy who was writing down names for a waiting list. “You know we're locals?”

“I just started here yesterday. I don't have a clue who you are. Everybody has to wait,” he said dispassionately.

“Can we get a drink while we wait,” asked Hannah. The pimple faced bus boy shrugged and said there were people at tables who are still waiting for drinks.

“Fuck this place, lets go over to the Big Game,” said Hannah. Mrs. boatguy said,” Hannah, watch your language there are children at the picnic tables. (pause) We can't go to the Big Game because the Gatlins are playing tonight and the crowd will be big!”

“Here comes the rain,” said Punxy. “How about the McGregor Grill?” Se we tried and there was a waiting line. We put down our name and waited. I went to the bar and hoped to get a PBR but was ignored so we left. “Summer's coming,” I sad to the regular bartender as I left. He actually looked up but we were gone.

Maybe tomorrow will be better when the overlap ends. We're all sure it will end the first of May. We'll be here, will they?

Boating; Nude beach, does Ft. Myers Beach really need another one?

Nauti Turtle is no more... Closed May 2014 We were sitting at the Nauti Turtle watching the thunderstorms move towards us. Tim the Restorer was updating our group via WeatherBug on his smart phone, "I can't believe it! The reds (really bad) just turned to yellows (not so bad) and split. It's going around us again!" "Okay by me," said Sweet Eileen the bartender. The bar was weekend busy so she ran off to cover the other end of the outside bar. Rain meant a loss of business. "It's the damned sky scrapers they built on the beach," said Cracker Bob, "I've had to water my lawn ever since the Diamond Head hotel was built." It is his favorite bitch. He'd sold out ten years ago and took those 'Yankee Dollars' inland to be away from us but they built a road right through his 5 acres and gave him a new pile. Boating; Fishing Trip from Hell

Speaking of mutinies, I seldom approve but there are times and places for everything. I think Saturday and overnight Sunday might have been a perfect scenario. Several members of our world famous "Dead End Canal Yacht Club" wanted to do some deep sea fishing. As you know, deep in the Gulf of Mexico means way out there. http://www.soundingsonline.com/dispatches/290946-video-marlin-jumps-into-boat The Captain of a local fishing charter boat promised 24 hours of blissful fishing 80 miles from shore. They always promise something like that but rarely fulfill the dream. "That's why they call it fishing, not catching," is there standard retort. The rest of the club was involved in our Sunday brunch so we didn't pay much attention. I did inquire if they'd filed a float plan but that was the extent of my concern.
