Boating; Crazy Day on Ft Myers Beach
Sleepy summer beach time is gone. Crazy summer weekend is here on Ft. Myers Beach. The smart tourists came last evening and took all the hotel rooms near the fishing pier and Times Square. They will take over the Heavenly Biscuit and other beach breakfast places.
The 'Dead End Canal Yacht Club' usually has a community breakfast but someone forgot to shop for all the ingredients and there aren't that many of us around. So, we went off the beach early to our FAVORITE off beach breakfast place, Marti's!
Well, not all of us. The Cap'n Crunch's and the Run-aground Ralph's went to Perkins for obvious reasons; they're not going to support local yokels.
Marti's was pretty quiet at 6:30 am so we were in and out quickly. I had my usual (I know this is very interesting?) eggs over easy, Jimmy Dean sausage patties, home fries crispy and a biscuit. Mrs. boatguy had the same except for sausage links and rye toast. It was way cheap, cheaper than the Gulfshore but there isn't a beach view so it all evens out.
Over the years I've always thought that Marti had a crush on John Wayne. I discovered at our Wednesday night Fish Monger cocktail hour (Mary makes deserts and tends bar), that it is her husband's obsession. Should have known, he always wears a cowboy hat. I had a dog named Duke once.
Marti's has great food but we couldn't dally because they shut the sky bridge down at 9 am for the 4th of July parade. I hate parades but I don't want to get locked off the bride until the afternoon.
We will dock the community boat (My 20%) at an out of town friend's dock North of the sky bridge and watch the fireworks. A long afternoon nap is in our club's future after we hang "tow-away" signs on said dock. Don't drink and drive ever but especially this afternoon and evening around Fort Myers Beach. Happy Fourth of July!
