Day After Party Baby Blues!

So 'the day' is done but the shopping isn't. Early this morning the G-mas and Mommies went to the malls. That was smart because traffic was backing up on Estero around 7am. Since the Dads and G-kids are on vacation the kids slept in until 8am then woke up starving. G-dads brought them to the clubhouse for pancakes, sweet rolls and sausage
biscuits.

None of them wanted our fried Mullet, eggs and grits breakfast. A quite a few ate on the dock to get away from the smell of cooking fish.
We had all three clubhouse coffee makers going. One made hot chocolate, one had Orange Pekoe Tea and the third was straight coffee. My griddle went non-stop until 9:30 am with homemade pancakes injected with dried fruit or fresh blue berries.

At least a gallon of syrup was consumed and two huge bowls of Bananas, Oranges and Apples were emptied. As you know the Sun played peek-a-boo with us as we cleaned up. The little ones were excited and ready to go on a boat ride. The older ones plugged in and started playing video games.

What a waste,” said Chicago Al as he watched his twin teenage G-boys bury their attention into their devices. “Later on they'll find me with up turned palms and a begging look on their face for beach money. I'm not sure how their parents even got them to come?”

The Reverend is a Widower with a large extended family. He's a practical man who understands how to entertain the smallest of his flock. He hired a bounce house for the front of his house. It came with a fence to corral the kids. The house was bouncing by dawn and most of the young ones took a turn during the day.

He's crazy,” said Cap'n Crunch, “that will ruin his lawn!” Another pragmatist spoke up, “It's a great idea because he don't fixate on the prettiest lawn on the canal anyway. They'll be down for a good long nap soon and then we can take them to the beach, later!”

The Reverend loaded up his Tri-toon around 11am and toured the back bay and peeked around the tip of Bowdich Point. I took several family visitors down to Lover's Key for a Publix fried chicken picnic. I wish there was a Popeye’s on the beach or at least close by.

On the way back we rendezvoused at the Pukin' Pelican for an afternoon burger sliders and fries. No drinking allowed with the kids on board. It can wait until the women return. A few of our members went to the 'Outhouse BBQ' but none of the year-rounders will go there.

Who wants to eat BBQ cooked in there? Besides they're up to their old tricks. The electronic sign on San Carlos leading to the beach has a rack of baby back ribs on display but I understand they don't serve them. As a wise man once told me "Good marketing only hastens the demise of a bad operation." And the word is going around already! Later....

I am Jonsing for the view at the Sunset bar looking over the marina BUT we won't go there because of all the bullshit that went on like firing all the staff every time we turned around. The food went down hill and the new staff din dn't know nuthing!

So glad to seen them come and so glad to see them go! Like Summer visits better because they aren't so rushed.
