Wonderful night for viewing Fort Myers Beach fireworks!
Last night was a wonderful night for viewing Fort Myers Beach fireworks. We (Dead End Canal Yacht Club members) went with the Rverend on his 25 foot Tri-toon offshore to watch them. What a boat! Plenty of room for a big party and stable and fast. We were on station about 8 pm and drinking beer while we waited for the 9ish start.
There were more large vessels around including the Getaway and several larger private yachts. We thought we had buoy room but were forced out by crowding boats so we went offshore a couple miles to excape the jostling. We were no more that 3 miles from the explosions and that was close for most of us. The party went on until the last boom and flash went off.
Since we had our designated driver who would drop us off at our docks, we weren't in any hurry to rush around Bowdich point. we waited a full half hour and then headed in. We saw a dozen cop boats (or so it seemed) on our trip back to thhe canal but they didn't slow down the idiots. All in al it was a great evening on the water!
