May 1st Workers Unite Hangover

May 1st is the International Day for Workers or protests or Union activity. Since the clubhouse is being renovated, the few of us who are here year round gathered at the Pukin' Pelican to talk a little revolution. Very little as it turned out.

Boston Bob and I carried a little sign that read "Workers Unite" while Run-aground Ralph and Cap'n Crunch chanted "Down with Communism!" Pensacola Slim came by briefly and gave us a report on his summer residence in Pensacola, it is okay, but our signs about workers offended him so greatly that he took Run-aground Ralph and Cap'n Crunch with him when he left.

"You're a Capitalist through and through," Slim shouted as they left, "how can you support Commies?"

Our signs did attract interest from the underpaid, overworked, trampled masses which included waitress, cooks and even the bartender. The assistant manager asked us to leave and not to bring those signs back again!

"What do we do now," asked Bob, "it's my day off and I don't want to keep getting thrown out of places all afternoon. We rang up the Reverend and he picked us up in his tri-toon and we headed over to Salty Sam's Marina and the Big Game Waterfront Sports Bar to make reservations for that nights Dinner Show with Gatlin.

As you can see the poster clearly states that reservations are required for each nights show but when we asked lovely Heather, the bartender at the sunset bar, how to make them she didn't know who was taking them. So we decided to wait and see how the crowd would be.

Since we had seen Gaitlin dozens of times last winter at both Parrot Key and the Game we passed after the crowd trickled in. "I didn't think that the place would be packed," said Bob, "It's late in the season to start the reservation thing. I like the fact that there is plenty of seating but I wonder who came up with the rezzies?"

"The marketing department is in flux. Jamie left to take a marketing job at the Lani Kai and the new girl is just getting up to speed," I said.

"It's like the $.50 wings on Tuesday at the Big Game that are now $.75 but they still have them on their website!"
"The wife and I love 1/2 priced Gator Bite's wings on Tuesday night but they're so crowded that the line is too long. Then there are the 1/2 priced wings at the Bayside on Sundays," said Boston Bob. "Summer is here and the deals will begin but not at the Big Game!"

"I'm sure the new management team at the Big Game Waterfront Sports Bar will get their act together sooner or later. Now that the Nauti Turtle closed they may have a little business this summer.
