Simply fed up!
So, five days a week I attended a happy hour from 4 pm to 6 pm. It would have been 7 days but they changed the days to Sunday through Thursday. They divided the happy hour between 'almost happy' hour and happy hour. My favorite beer was $4 when not on happy hour. $3 at almost happy hour and $2 on Super happy hours 4pm to 6pm. Significant savings for us retired folk. Of course, the employees hated the pricing because the checks were small. Just before I bailed, they accepted for summer at least. Only biz they had besides LGBT functions.
I liked the dining room bar because it was air-conditioned. The outside bar allowed smoking nearly outside. On one side of a narrow bar was smoking and on the other side non-smoking. They just couldn't train the smoke to stay where it was welcome. The dining room bar had no live music but several big screen TV's. Wife and I watched her favorite team there! Woof, Woof, Woof.
It was lonely in the dining room bar most happy hours but the bartenders could count on a few dollars in tips from me and my mates. Except when the thunderstorms chased patrons inside (often) or the temp was over 100 (just as often). Sometimes clubs or large families would enjoy the quiet in there. The dining room bar was where newly hired bartenders were supposed to be trained. I got to meet the new hires but became aware that very little, to no training, going on.
Especially when one manager was on duty.
Last visit; Exchange with the new bartender (she was on her 3rd week). New only to this place.
Q; What are the daily specials?
A; Dunno, I'll look in a minute?
Q; I understand you have a special inside A.C. happy hour food menu?
A; I've never heard of a 'Cool Down Menu' but I'll ask someone in the kitchen. Nope, they didn't know. I'll ask a manager the next time one wanders by!
Q; Can I have my bill?
A; I can give it to you but no one has given me a cash drawer yet!? They had been open for an hour!
